By Vincenza Y. Canino

I Dream of Jeannie is really a fantasy TV series from the 1960's. The main individuals had been Tony Nelson who was an astronaut that came across a blonde genie portrayed by Barbara Eden on a beach. I Dream Of Jeannie is a sitcom family comedy that provides timeless humor. A lot of viewers still find the jokes funny even when it had been created 50 years back. This program is a wonderful mix of romance, action, magic and comedy.

I Dream Of Jeannie is about a genie naming Jeannie who falls in love with his master, a good looking and very charming astronaut played by Nelson. They first met at a deserted island in the start of the TV series. Tony found a bottle which rolled on its own on the seaside. When he rubbed the ornate bottle, a genie springs out. Since the genie was around two thousand years before, she didn't know the way to speak English. Tony was upset that he wished that she could understand him. So this is the very first time the magic comes about. Then the wish came true.

Over the TV series, we can witness the development of the relationship of Jeannie and Tony. After that Tony finds out that he is absolutely crazy about his genie. Since Tony seemed to be engaged for the general's child. The moment Tony comes back from the island with Jeannie in the bottle, the engagement split off. This is because of Jeannie's naughty but loveable tricks.

As I watched I Dream Of Jeannie episode this became among my personal favorite sitcoms growing as a kid during the 1990s. One of my preferred arcs on this TV series was the time when Jeannie wasn't capable of using her powers when she was kept in a tiny place and whoever frees her can be her new master. Tony's best friend and fellow astronaut found this during the very first season.

Although Tony wished to have a normal social life with several girlfriends, these types of romantic relationships didn't last long. This is because of the envious Jeannie who had clearly fallen in love with her master.

As you go along, Tony also returned Jeannie's passion for him and so the couple was married during the fifth and last season of I Dream Of Jeannie episode. By now, Jeannie had begun putting on civilian clothes and eventually left her usual outfits which had been a trademark during the first couple of seasons of the show. I Dream of Jeannie was over on September 1, 1990 in NBC. And throughout 1973 to 1975 an animated edition called Jeannie was played on CBS Saturday morning.
