The Mongoose Thrive - Bleeding edge BMX Technology

By Joel Colman

Mongoose, a company that first started with just making BMX bike wheels is now the market leader in the BMX world. Today and they keep making new amazing designs and cutting edge improvements to the hobby as though it come naturally to them.

If ever there was the need to create an "example bike" to demonstrate how a real BMX bike should behave, the Mongoose Thrive would be it.

There is simply something special about the Mongoose Thrive that sets it apart from all the rest. From the incredible flexibility and the many features, to its ability to perform many stunts and the ease in riding, this bike, from the Mongoose Bikes creators, can take anything that any rider will put it through.

Fully Loaded and Ready to Rock

With many companies contributing to the BMX phenomenon finding new technologies and designs would seem to be a challenge. However Mongoose comes through again with their idea of adding a full-Chromoly fork to their BMX banger. A truly great idea! Every enthusiast knows that Chromley is the strongest out there, but what if the entire fork was a single unit?

Mongoose has indeed given us and single piece fork, but they didn't stop there. The Mongoose Thrive also comes with massive handle bars and pedals by Odyssey for excellent comfort and performance. This also provides safer landings and higher jumps. Mongoose also has a "street" package with pegs and gyro breaks for fine grinding.

With the Mongoose Thrive they've gone out of their way in every detail to get just that little more in every aspect of the bike. Whether it be the Rush levers or the Tektro stock alloy breaks, the sum total of these details is one incredible ride.

Heavy Performance but Not Heavy on the Wallet

Yes, the bike will certainly hit your wallet but if you consider the $370 to $400 price tag, it might not be too bad. The price is, still, $50 to $80 less than what the average BMX 20-inch bike costs and that is just the "average" we are speaking of. Nothing about the Mongoose Thrive is average by any means - especially not build quality or performance capability.

Not only do you get a bike that has world class parts and a solid ride, you get it for a price that, otherwise, gets you much less. If you are hunting for discounts, then you'll have to look hard for festive offers or special sales because this is one bike that is touching the limits, as far as BMX technology is concerned.
